Let's think up some examples where dog gates / safety gates can come in extremely handy:
- A baby or toddler's play area (a gate here is therefore used as a baby gate / child gate / or pet gate to keep pet and child separated)
- A baby or toddler's bedroom (if you want to leave the door open so you can hear the child)
- A stairwell where a dog or child could get hurt (used here as a stair gate - Note: Always use hardware-mounted gates at TOP of stairs, NOT a pressure gate!)
- The kitchen area when you are cooking or eating
- The dining room area during meals where you don't want him begging
- A utility room where you have stuff that could be poisonous
- A fireplace hearth (hearth gate)
- To keep pets and children away from a barbeque grill (barbecue gate)
